No, the preschool application will never ask you or anyone in your family for proof of citizenship. Newcomer students can apply for a Pre-K program at a school site, over the phone, or with the assistance of another volunteer. Newcomer families are welcome to visit our Family Resource Centers for placement.

The Chicago Early Learning application is open year round. For the best chance to be enrolled in our most desired programs we recommend you apply as early as possible.
Yes. Waitlist do not roll over to the next year. We recommend all families apply during the initial application period to improve their chances of getting into their preferred program.
Families with questions or needing support completing the application can call 312-229-1690 for assistance with applications for both CPS schools and Community-Based Early Learning Programs. Additionally, Families can visit a Family Resource Centers at select Public Libraries for application and verification support. During the application period, families will be able to apply in person and verify enrollment at the school directly or at an FRC.
